Since 1883, Duff-Norton has earned a reputation for reliable, high quality products that meet the industrial lifting, positioning and transfer needs of our worldwide customers. Both their standard and custom designed products are subjected to the same rigorous testing throughout the design process to assure maximum performance and quality. They have been ISO 9001 registered since 1994, and practice and conduct lean initiatives regularly.
Together, with their sister companies CM Engineered Products GmbH (brands Pfaff-silberblau and Alltec Antriebstechnik) and Duff-Norton Europe, they are the largest manufacture of motion technology products in the world, providing both motion technology and systems technology solutions.
Motion Technology products
Duff-Norton pioneered the modern day Screw Jacks and many of the features others have often tried to imitate, such as Anti-Backlash, Ball Screw, and close mounted motorized and controlled options.
- The Linear Actuators and Electric Cylinder product lines are broad, comprehensive and packaged with the latest features.
- The large selection of Acme and Ball Screws & Nuts are uniquely and completely packaged with modern day drives and control components.
- The Rotary Unions product line offers first class media transfer functionality across a very broad application range.
All of their products are widely used throughout all the process and related industries such as metals, chemicals, mining, material handling, agriculture, satellite, defense, and many more.
Duff-Norton line of screw jacks (mechanical actuators) includes mechanical actuators (machine screw and ball screw) ranging in size from 1/4 ton to 350 tons, stainless steel machine screw actuators, micro-miniature actuators, high duty cycle actuators, motorized machine screw and ball screw actuators, electric cylinders and motor control systems.
Accessories include miter gear boxes, c-face motor adapters, limit switches, transducers, visual and digital position indicators, couplings, ball screws and ball screw systems, and locking rings. Screw Jacks are also used for raising and lowering maintenance platforms, opening and closing air dampers, oven doors and sluice gates, and adjusting tooling machine beds, cable tension and workplace tables. In addition to the broad range of applications and industries for mechanical actuators, they are also used as alternatives to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
This Duff-Norton product line of actuators features load capacities ranging from 27 pounds to 25 tons, gear- or belt-driven, acme screw and ball screw systems with various AC and DC input voltages. Duff-Norton Linear Actuators and SuperCylinders are specially-designed for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. These actuators are used for opening and closing, tilting and pivoting, lifting and lowering and positioning.
Applications include gates, dampers, oven and processing tank doors, antennas, orthopedic tables and other medical equipment, ergonomic furniture, and agricultural equipment, etc. Custom designs are also available for special applications. Linear Actuators are now being used in place of pneumatics and hydraulics when high maintenance and environmental problems (leaking hydraulic oil) are a concern.
Rotary Unions® transfer media (water, steam, air, oil, hydraulic fluid, etc) from a stationary source to rotating machinery, such as a drum or an indexing table. They are used in process industries such as; paper, printing, rubber and plastics, textile and chemical. Rotary Unions are also used on cranes, machine tools and many other applications.
Duff-Norton Rotary Unions are used to provide heating or cooling media like steam, hot oil, water or coolant to control the surface temperature of a drum or roll, to transfer air or hydraulic fluid to moving components or to add fluids to mixers while in motion. Rotary unions, rotary joints and rotating joints ranging up to 750 psi and up to 5,000 RPM are available.
